Wing Chun's Street Effectiveness

Wing Chun's Effectiveness
Why is Wing Chun effective? Wing Chun was never intended for ring fighting, so it’s important to understand its design and function. Wing Chun really excels at close range quarters, where the combat is very unpredictable and you never have time to analyse what’s about to happen.  Wing Chun relies heavily on the centre line theory which is the direct and shortest route in intercepting or counter attacking your opponent. Wing Chun uses everything and with significant power from close range, including elbows, knees, punches, palm strikes, grabs, kicks and other strikes which in sports terms be viewed as illegal striking. But we know that when our lives are at stake everything goes right? The art on a combat level if executed with precise powerful attack is very effective and works very well if applied with guts and determination and the will to succeed. The idea is to always finish what you start, you must continually keep closing the distance and keep hitting until the fight is over or that you have clearly understood that your enemy can no longer take a beating.
Even here I would advise extreme caution as you never know who you have in front of you. Wing Chun works because its dynamic explosive nature at short distance can turn your agressors plans into a nightmare. I always suggest that if you intend to have immediate results you must learn to attack powerfully and dynamically.
